The new Rio Rancho City Center is located approximately 7 miles north of Cabezon.  The city has grown substantially since building originally began in 1962 and when the city welcomed their 100th family in 1966.  Today, Rio Rancho has an estimated population of over 93,000.  The “City of Vision”, is one of the fastest growing cities in the State of New Mexico.

Less than 10 minutes from Cabezon, is Rio Rancho’s Sports Complex.  The approximate 80 acre dog-friendly complex offers multiple baseball fields, skate park, shaded structures, picnic tables, two tennis courts and much more.  Indoor soccer, flag football and lacrosse are also available for those with a competitive edge.

Overlooking the Cabezon Community is Rio Rancho’s first full-service hospital.  The five-story, 300,000 square foot building, is an all-private room facility with a six-story patient tower and 21,500 square foot cancer center.  The environmentally friendly hospital is artistically designed around a central atrium and incorporates state of the art technology.
